Description
Even an ordinary day makes amazing demands on the body. Each day is really one long balancing act, not only keeping all the vital processes under tight control, things like circulation, breathing a...nd the nervous system, but especially that most critical balance between energy intake and energy use. Using blood sugar levels, this programme shows how the body uses glucose from food to provide energy, and how, if there is excess food over energy requirements and therefore too much glucose in the blood, the body converts it to glycogen and stores it in the liver, to be called upon when energy demands are higher.
