Description
This video was shot on location in Northern Pakistan. It illustrates what happens as a consequence of rapid uplift. The building of mountains, like the Nanga Parbat massif in the Himalayas. The sta...ges in the story involve the geological evidence for the initial subduction of Nanga parbat rocks below Kohistan: heating and the generation of local granitic melts - the leucogranite story: uplift on the Liachar thrust zone with metamorphic assemlages, the transition from ductile to brittle deformation, neotectonic evidence, fission track dating, and a remarkable story of a flashflood which occurred in 1841, with a full geological explanation related to the above points.
