'This video presents a collection of thin sections for study. It relates closely to the course text and to material in other S339 videos. the thin sections discussed in part 1 are lavas - demonstra...ting olivine and plagioclase pyroxene (augite), opaque materials (magnetite). Also mafic lavas - demonstrating sanidine, zoned plagioclase and orthopyroxene, sieve textured plagioclase. In part 2 the thin sections are of Loch Doon granitoids and include demonstrations of plagioclase, alkali feldspar and quartz, chlorite, pyroxenes, amphibole and zircon.'
