'In this programme a feral population of peafowl was filmed at Whipsnade Zoo and a wild population at two tiger reserves in Rajasthan in Northern India. The courtship behaviour of peacock and peahe...n is shown in detail, and evidence for male / male competition or female choice examined. That sexual selection takes place through female choice is deduced from evidence that the females mate with the peacock who display the largest trains. However, this leads to more questions as to what the female gains from that choice - particularly because for the male there is a cost - the risk of predation by tiger, as is demonstrated in the programme too.'
