Description
Anybody driving through the mountains east of Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA, could be forgiven for thinking that they could see a government: space research station or something. Five white domes cl...ustered on a hillside a mile off the freeway comprise the home of Robert and Lee Reines. They use only the sun and the wind for their energy. This is the first of two TV and two radio programmes about their home and lifestyle, and is part of the study block "Home". The film covers only what the Reines set-up consists of and how it works in terms familiar to the student; materials, construction and services. Motivation and assessment are covered in the other programmes. After viewing, the student should be able to describe the main dome in those terms including the essential elements of an autonomous energy system. Guidance is offered at the beginning and end of the programme as tohow to use the TV and radio. The film was shot, along with TV programme 4 and radio 3, entirely on location in the USA. The music used is typical of Robert Reines' taste.
