Description
This programme follows Don McCubbin on a field trip over the gallip sandstone Sequence in north-western New Mexico. Although these classic coastal sediments do exhibit the characteristics of beach ...or foreshore deposition, the programme turns to modern examples to study these sediments in detail. Then Thomas Moslow takes us on a field trip through two contrasting barrier island settings off the coast of the Carolinas. These locations, Core banks in North Carolina, and Kiawah Island in South Carolina, demonstrate the differences in deposition environment that are caused by difference in wave energy, tidal range and the activity of tidal inlet migration.
