Description
Visit to Ballycastle where there are two rock types, black over white. By the law of superposition the black should be younger. The presenters will look in detail at the white sediment, chalk, and ...the black basalt to try find out about the environments where they were created. Notes describe some of what can be found in chalk, including finding larger fossils in chalk, flint bands. There is proof of a volcanic event, but cannot find where the volcanic vent is. The sedimentary rocks are examined to determine how old they are.
