Description
Taking notes from written resources and lectures will not only help you with assignments, but also provide a prompt to your memory in exams. In this session, Nicky Harlow talks about developing cri...tical reading techniques - skimming and scanning – and how these can help with writing effective notes to use in assignments. Nicky also covers how to choose keywords to help remember concepts and narratives for examinations, how to organise notes into manageable chunks and why taking notes in lectures is a good idea and helps with remembering information. She also shows how to keep notes for later use. In the section section of the session, Nicky Harlow guides you through each stage of the process from understanding what you are being asked to do, through to preparation, research, approaches, editing and creating a checklist that will ensure your essay is as polished as it can possibly be. This session is also used in Fresher's Fair 2016 Day 2.
