This session starts by looking at how common it is for students with mental health difficulties to be studying with the OU, and will highlight some of the potential challenges of this and identify ...positive strategies for addressing those challenges. The focus will also be on sources of support that are available to enable students to achieve their study goals. We will talk about the benefits of disclosing mental health difficulties, so that potential issues can be headed off before they occur. Deciding to disclose mental health difficulties can be a positive and empowering experience which may lead to the development of a wealth of coping strategies.
