‘Compare’ and ‘contrast’ are very common process words, and in this session, Dr Fiona Doloughan explains how to make the most of these terms when drawing out useful similarities and differe...nces. She explains that compare means to look for and show the similarities between examples, while contrast means to set in opposition in order to bring out the differences. Together, the terms can perhaps be used to reach a conclusion about which is preferable and justify this.
