Final countdown to new Library Search

Student working at home, using their laptopThere are now less than two weeks to go until we launch our new and improved Library Search. Your research experience is about to become even more responsive, reactive and seamless, with the most up-to-date records possible.

We posted in November 2021 to explain what you need to do to take Saved Searches and permalinks into this new system. We can now share the exact processes with you.

  • transfer your Saved Searches into the new Library Search: we have created a tool that allows you to view a log of all your Saved Searches, open them in the new system and save them again there. This will be available shortly after the new Library Search is launched. We will let you know when it is available, here on Library News.
  • recreate your permalinks in the new Library Search: you will have to perform your searches again and create the permalinks by selecting the permalink icon (which looks like a chain link) for each item you require.

You cannot do either of these tasks until the new system is launched. At that point you will have a step-by-step guide to take you through the processes, and you will no longer be able to create new Saved Searches or permalinks in the old system.

There has been a recent development surrounding the way that ‘Full text available’ links work in the new system. To understand what will be different, please take a look at the full explanation of ‘Full text available’ links in the new Library Search.

We are sure that you will enjoy the many benefits of the new system when it goes live soon.
