Your gateway to a wide range of online information resources
We posted a few weeks ago to share the great news that we are launching an improved version of Library Search in February 2022. With this new system, any update from the Library, or from the publishers who provide the content, will be available to you in real-time. So, any search you make will give you the most up-to-date results, every time.
To ensure a smooth transition to the new system, there a couple of things you will need to do. You cannot do anything yet, but we can share some more information, so that you know exactly what to expect when the time comes.
If you use Saved Searches in Library Search, you will have to recreate them in the new system. They will not be automatically carried over. Once we have launched the updated version of Library Search, you will be able to rebuild your log of Saved Searches. This will be a simple process which we will guide you through. Saved Searches are different to My Favourites, which are saved results. These will not be affected by the move.
If you have saved permalinks in Library Search, these will not be available in the new system. You will have to recreate them. We will have a grace period of 4 months, where the current Library Search and the new version will be running in parallel. This will give you time to recreate your permalinks in the new system.
We can also confirm, that because this is a new system, you won’t have a search history in the new Library Search. The search history from our current system will not be carried over, but you can save searches and take them over with you into the new system.
You don’t need to do anything right now. We will guide you through each step of the process when the time comes, and from then you will have 4 months to make sure your Saved Searches and permalinks are in the new system.
Look out for another post from us in January, that will outline both processes in full.
