The Open University Argon Lab has an international reputation for technical development, pioneering spirit, and scientific venture.
Our analytical capabilities are centred around two individual instruments: a MAP 215-50 noble gas mass spectrometer and Nu Instruments Noblesse.
All our lasers are mobile and interchangable between the mass spectrometers. 2 Infra-Red fibre lasers, a Photon Machines 193nm excimer laser and a CO2 laser system allow analysis of a wide range of materials.
The laboratory suite houses a fully equipped preparation laboratory.
The level of preparation required will vary from sample to sample, ranging from initial mineral separation to the final removal of contaminants.
