Outreach and public engagement

The school of Computing and Communications at The Open University promotes the field of IT to the wider public. We do so for several reasons:

• to generally increase awareness of the computing and communications field with the general public
• to encourage people to move into (or return to) the technology sector for employment
• to promote better informed and deeper engagement with digital issues among the wider public

We work with local schools, local technology user groups, and with national organisations to promote digital engagement across the UK.
