Open University (OU) researchers from the School of Environment Earth and Ecosystems in the Faculty of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, Drs Katrina Nilsson-Kerr (previous OU PhD student), Pallavi Anand (project lead) and Philip Holden, carried out an integrated data-model study to show that differences in the large-scale tropical rainfall pattern, including monsoon, are sensitive to climatic changes, thousands of years ago.

Shannon Cameron and Sophie Alexander recenly took part in Voice of the Future 2021.

Shannon and Sophie worked with Dr Pallavi Anand to develop questions and attended the event. It was a great team effort.

​​The OU-led Floodplain Meadows Partnership (FMP) has been crowned UK winner of Ecover’s ‘Fertilise the Future Fund’.

Dr Julie Robson from EEES has been working alongside colleagues from FASS as an academic consultant on a new OU/BBC series called Gold Town. Starting on Sunday 7 March (21.00), this series will be on BBC Scotland (a digital channel).

Launched in 2012, our Virtual Microscope open-access website has been relaunched following a makeover in early 2021.

The relaunch coincides with the addition of around 200 more geological samples in three new university collections.

The OU's Floodplain Meadows Partnership is in the running to secure up to £180,000 of funding in Ecover's Fertilise the Future challenge and we need the help of the OU family to win!

Fertilise the Future provides grants for innovative green research and projects that can make a real difference to our planet. After making the shortlist, our Floodplain Meadows project is now going head to head with other eco-pioneers in a 'People's Choice' vote on social media.
