Description
A student of almost any aspect of the Renaissance encounters time and again references to the works and influence of Plato and Aristotle. In this programme Professor Ferguson presents a broad pictu...re of their work and of the varying interpretations and emphases placed upon certain aspects of their thought by philosophers who succeeded them, up to the time of the Renaissance. In particular he outlines the stages by which Christian thinkers had adapted the vision of Plato and Plotinus and transmitted it to the Church, where, in the great period of scholasticism it was overlaid with the thought of Aristotle, until it burst into new "Life in the academies of the Renaissance".
