Description
Professor Ivor Keys of Birmingham University describes, with harpsichord illustrations the basic dance rhythms which go to make up the Baroque Suite. In collaboration with a choreographer, Professo...r Leys has researched the original dance forms and recreated them with students. From this work he has come to the conclusion that the phrasing and tempi of the rhythms in the Baroque suite should be conditioned by their origins in the dance. The rhythms he illustrates are the Allemande, Courante, Sarabande, Minuet and Fugue.
