3. Betty Boothroyd Library

The Library building was opened in 2003 replacing the first Library building known as the Jennie Lee Library. The new Library was officially named in 2006 by Baroness Boothroyd in her honour. Baroness Boothroyd was Chancellor of The Open University from 1994 to 2006. Her archive of papers has been deposited into the University Archive in the Library and is available to view by appointment with the Archive.

For more information about Baroness Boothroyd and her connection with The Open University, visit the online exhibition which was created to coincide with the 25th anniversary of Boothroyd becoming the first female Speaker of the House of Commons on 27th April 1992.
