Description
George Daniel was an English writer of poetry, plays and other written works. He was also a book and art collector. He purchased an edition of the First Folio of Shakespeare's works (now one of the most valuable printed books in the world). When he died his collection was sold by auction at Sothebys and the First Folio was sold to Angela Burdett-Coutts for £716 2s a record at the time. It is now in the Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington DC.
