Description
William Cooke Taylor was an Irish writer, journalist and historian. He moved to London in the 1820s and contributed to several publications including the 'Athenaeum'. He is best known for two works, 'The Natural History of Society' and 'Factories and the Factory System', both published in the early 1840s. He supported the Anti-Corn Law League and became editor of 'The League' publication. He returned to Ireland in 1847, working as a statistician for the Irish Government but died of cholera two years later at the age of 49.
