Description
Richard Coley Wellesley, the 1st Marquess Wellesley, was an Anglo-Irish politician and colonial administrator. He was appointed the fifth Governor-General of India from 1798 to 1805. He also served as Foreign Secretary during the Napoleonic Wars and Lord Lieutenant of Ireland. He was the elder brother of Arthur Wellesley, the 1st Duke of Wellington.
