Eleanor Mulligan is from Belfast. She was a nurse in hospitals in Belfast prior to working as an Assistant Probation Officer and then Probation Officer in the H Blocks of the Maze and Long Kesh Prison from 1978 until 1984. Eleanor studied Social Work and Social Sciences courses with The Open University in the 1970s as preparation for entering social work.
