Description
John Friel grew up and went to school in Derry before training for the priesthood. After ordination he first worked in youth ministry in Dublin later moving to Scotland where he worked in a Young Offenders institute and started studying for an Open University degree in Psychology. He then moved to Belfast founded the New Life Counselling service based in Ardoyne and worked as part-time Prison Chaplain in the H blocks of the Maze and Long Kesh Prison between 1992 and1994. John graduated with a BSc in Psychology in 1994 then studied at Boston College in the US to become a Chartered Psychologist before returning as Chaplain in the H Blocks be...tween 1996 and 1999.
