Description
Heather Laird graduated in Engineering from Queen’s University Belfast. She worked as an Open University Tutor Counsellor and tutored on a range of Technology modules between 1987- 1998. She held Assistant Staff Tutor and Assistant Senior Counsellor roles in The Open University based in the Belfast office between 1992 and 1997. She was appointed Senior Counsellor in 1997 and in that role assumed responsibility for prison tuition across Ireland. In 2000 Heather was appointed as Assistant Director of Student Services. She was Chair of the Prison Liaison Group for The Open University working with government departments in England Northern I...reland and the Republic of Ireland on issues relating to prison education.
