Description
Des O’Hagan is from Belfast. He was imprisoned in Crumlin Road Gaol in the 1950s attended the London School of Economics and lectured in Sociology in Stranmillis College and Queen’s University Belfast. He was a founding member of the Northern Ireland Civil Rights Association (NICRA) and was on its Executive in 1971. He was interned in Long Kesh Internment Camp from August 1971 until August 1972 where he organised the internal education for the Long Kesh Coordinating Committee of Republican Clubs. He is the author of ‘Letters from Long Kesh’ published by Citizen Press in 2012.
