Description
Maurice Kennedy worked as Staff Tutor in Mathematics and Computing with The Open University from 1973 until his retirement in 2009. He was an Associate Lecturer from 1971 and tutored Mathematics students in the Compounds and H Blocks of the Maze and Long Kesh Prison Magilligan Portlaoise Arbour Hill Mountjoy Wheatfield Limerick and Cork Prisons along with Crumlin Road Gaol and the Curragh in the years 1977-2009. During this time he was responsible for organising and supporting tutors to work with Open University students studying Mathematics in prisons and he acted as Academic Counsellor to those students. Maurice also worked for the Priso...n Education Department from 1977 in the Compounds and H Blocks as a part-time teacher of A Level Mathematics. He had previously studied at Queen’s University Belfast and after completing his doctorate had worked there in the computer laboratory for several years.
