Student A is from Derry. He left school at sixteen with no qualifications and was imprisoned in the Official IRA Cages (Compounds the Maze and Long Kesh Prison) from 1974-76 and 1978-85. He studied Mathematics and Science courses with The Open University between 1981 and 1984. He was released in 1984 and studied at Queen’s University Belfast for a year before taking up employment.
