Description
John Wallace left school in Belfast with no qualifications and was imprisoned in the Ulster Volunteer Cages (Compounds of the Maze and Long Kesh prison) in 1975. He studied Arts and Philosophy courses with The Open University in Compound 18 and then Compound 21 between 1978 and 1984. After his release in 1985 he went to the University of St Andrews in Scotland and gained a joint honours degree in Moral Philosophy and International Relations. After graduation John worked for Scottish charities before getting a Postgraduate Diploma in Social Work at the University of Edinburgh and in later years a Postgraduate Certificate from Edinburgh Napi...er University in Leadership Excellence and Emotional Intelligence. At the time of interview in 2018 although retired he still worked part-time helping disabled students with their study skills.
