Description
Mary McArdle is from Belfast. She left school with no qualifications and was imprisoned in Armagh Gaol and then Maghaberry Prison in the 1980s. She studied The Open University Community Education course Health Choices with a group of women in Maghaberry before beginning her degree studies in Social Sciences in 1988. She graduated with an honours degree in 1995 and completed a postgraduate module with The Open University before her release in 1997. She then worked in the Sinn Féin Prisoner of War Department on the release process for other prisoners as a result of the Good Friday Agreement.
