Anthony Trollope was an English novelist who also worked for the Post Office and became Postal Surveyor for Northern Ireland. He is most famous for his Barchester novels, collectively known as the 'Chronicles of Barsetshire' and the Palliser novels. He spent several years living in Ireland working for the Post Office and his early novels are set in the country at the time of the Great Famine, including 'The Macdermots of Ballycloran' and 'Castle Richmond'.
