Description
Richard Chenevix Trench was an Irish Anglican clergyman. He was also a poet and philologist. In 1851 he delivered a series of lectures on philology at the Diocesan Training School, Winchester, which were subsequently published as 'On the Study of Words'. Eight years after becoming Dean of Westminster Abbey in 1856 he was appointed Archbishop of Dublin.
