Alan Sharp worked as an Open Associate Lecturer in History with The Open University between 1976 and 2000. He tutored in the Compounds and H Blocks of the Maze and Long Kesh Prison Maghaberry Prison Magilligan Prison and the Crumlin Road Gaol between 1976 -1989. He came to the New University of Ulster at Coleraine in January 1971 as a Lecturer in History became Professor of International Studies at Magee in 1994 Head of the School of History and International Affairs in 1998 and Provost of the Coleraine campus from 2006 until his retirement in 2009. At time of interview he was Emeritus Professor of International History at the University o...f Ulster. His main research interests concern British foreign policy after the First World War and he has written The Versailles Settlement; Peacemaking after the First World War 1919-1923(2nd ed. Palgrave Macmillan2008) and David Lloyd George: Great Britain and Consequences of Peace: The Versailles Settlement Aftermath and Legacy 1919-2010 (Haus2018).
