Student G attended a grammar school in North Antrim and left after gaining his O Levels. He was imprisoned from 1992-2000 in the Loyalist wings of the H Blocks (the Maze and Long Kesh Prison) and in Maghaberry Prison. He got involved in education and gained GCSEs and A Levels starting his Open University studies in Social Sciences in 1995. He graduated in 1999.
