The psychologists, Hans Eysenck, Professor of Educational Psychology at Maudsley Hospital, and Noel Entwhistle, Professor of Education at Lancaster University, have carried out large scale into Personality Dimensions and Attainment. The results of these surveys, although apparently contradictory, dominate present thinking in this area. This programme is introduced by Dr. John Bynner, lecturer in Educational Studies at the Open University, and in it some of the results of these enquiries are interpreted and explained by the researchers themselves. The discussion is chaired by Desmond Furneaux, Professor of Education at Brunei University, who is notable for earlier work in the same field.
