The effect of children's attitudes n their learning is extremely important, and it is therefore vital that research into attitudes should be as accurate and thorough as possible. Dr. Joan Barker Lu...nn carried out a major study of streaming for the National Foundation for Educational Research, and in this programme John Bynner takes her through the various stages of her research, with particular emphasis on the way she built up attitude scales. The different processes thus highlighted, are illustrated by recordings of primary school children, recordings made specially for this programme.
