Dr. John Bynner begins this programme by introducing the work and ideas of Professor Hunt in the field of intrinsic motivation and compensatory education. He then links extracts from the interview ...described above. In the course of this interview Professor Hunt discusses the work he has done in the field of motivation and describes its application to compensatory educational programmes in the United States of America. Professor Hunt also expands on his theories of incongruity, on the "Problem of the Hatch" and on the effectiveness of "Head Start" the compensatory educational project.
