Description
This programmes gives a conspectus of the main kinds of music available in the 1960s with examples from the work of 'avant-garde' composers such as Stockhausen and Lutaslawski, and other contempora...ry composers like Rubbra and McCabe who use a modified tonality. The programme also examines the way new editions of hitherto neglected works bring the public 'new' music from the past; and it explores some of the frontiers of classical music in this period; with the early Renaissance and middle ages, with different cultures such as that of India, and with popular music.
