Description
This programme is a presentation of the group of theoretic ideas that lead to the general semi-direct product construction. In the process the ideas of automorphisms and conjugation are reviewed, a...nd then used to 'glue' small cyclic groups together to form larger more complicated groups. This approach shows that the direct product of two groups is merely a special case of the more general construction.
