Footage description: A studio discussion chaired by Bob Bell. Ben Cosin and Bell introduce the subject and the speakers. Lord Boyle and Lady Lee discuss the change in attitude towards selection since 1944. They consider the reasons for the change, particularly parental attitudes and home backgrounds. They suggest that dissatisfaction with selection arises from inadequacy of the mechanisms rather than the qualities of secondary modern and grammar schools, and go on to consider the problems of amalgamations. Boyle raises the question of direct grant schools retaining their independence. Lady Lee cannot agree. Finally at Bell's invitation they consider the possibility of comprehensive tertiary' education.
