Footage description: | Whatley introduces the programme. Classroom sequence in which Snelling begins the project through word association around the concept of energy. Snelling continues in the classroom, expanding the concept of energy and related topics, such as work, forms of energy, machinery and fuel. Snelling explains the actual project work and how it could link up with teaching in other departments. The three energy projects are described by Snelling. The wind generated energy is examined first. Shots of experiments with Saronius rotor machine. The methane energy project is discussed. Shots of pupils setting process in motion. The nature of the solar energy project is explained. Shots of project being set up. Snelling discusses how further teaching became necessary as the projects progressed. Classroom sequence shows the concept of energy conversion via a simple experiment. Snelling states how the projects will continue and he and Whatley look at the progress so far. The results of the methane experiment are examined, including an illustration of the methane being burnt. The solar water heater is described and two pupils outline possible uses for it. The difficulties of the wind-powered generator are examined. Two pupils briefly discuss what the generator could be used for. Credits over Whatley continuing to talk with the pupils. |
