This programme is a dramatization in English of the fable of "The Grand Inquisitor", translated from Dostoevsky's novel "The Brothers Karamazov", The Grand Inquisitor is a figme...nt of one of the brother's imaginings, and expresses the doubts and problems which torture his mind. The programme consists essentially of one great speech, and the part of the Grand Inquisitor is played by Sir John Gielgud. The programme provides a particularly effective example of a creative product and suggests an analysis of ways of looking at the nature of good and evil, as portrayed in the fable.
