Description
In 1925, John Scopes agreed to stand trial in Dayton,Tennessee, for breaking a new law forbidding the teaching of Darwin's theory of evolution in state schools. This trial gained much publicity thr...ough William Jennings Bryan, a prominent politician who joined the prosecution, and Clarence Darrow, a famous criminal lawyer who joined the defence. The programme makes considerable use of archive film and contemporary music to recreate the story of the trial and the issues involved within the context of science and belief and the political scene at that time.
