Description
This programme traces the technical improvements in the steel industry from the mid 19th century to the early 20th century. It focuses on how Americans, led by such men as Andrew Carnegie, eagerly ...exploited the technology. first rails, then bridges, skyscrapers, barbed wire, containers and finally cars, were all made of steel. Filmed on location in the Pennsylvania and Ohio steel belt this programme includes unique footage of one of the western world's last open hearth steelworks.
