| Footage description: | Solving equations by iteration began in Block 1 Unit 1 and has proved a familiar source of examples throughout the course. The student has been promised to be given eventually a test for when an iteration will converge. This programme gives him the test. A basic teaching programme, it concentrates very heavily on graphic displays. The material draws greatly on earlier work in the course and would not be easily understood by anyone not conversant with iteration (Block 1 Unit 1), graphical interpretation of iteration (Block 2 Unit 4), differentiation (Block 2 Unit 4), solving inequalities (Block 2 Unit 2) and cubic graphs (Block 2 Unit 1). |
