During the period of the 'Economic Miracle' Brazil's government embarked upon many adventurous but highly expensive energy substitution projects. With the world oil crisis came rapidly rising inter...est rates and the cost of these projects became a massive burden on the economy of Brazil. The programme looks at the wisdom behind some of these projects, and the extent to which they are necessary to ensure continued growth in the Brazilian economy.
