Description
The aim of the series "The Plough and the Hoe" is to build up a picture of the impact of agricultural development on village life in Northern India. The second film of the series explores... the violence of relations between landlords and farm workers in the Begusarai district of Bihar, a backward and feudal area where low pay, landlessness and debt bondage are still common among agricultural labourers, most of them members of the "Scheduled" castes.
