The command and control of nuclear weapons systems in the US has been at the centre of much debate about its ability to withstand a pre-emptive nuclear strike. This programme looks at some of the c...riticism of the current system and the response from government and military. in particular, the programme focusses upon the changing nature of weapons systems which have led critics to increasingly question the extent to which, in a crisis, command of nuclear forces could remain under democratic control.
