The first Open University graduation ceremony held at Alexandra Palace, London, on ...the 23rd June 1973. Installation of Lord Gardiner as the second OU Chancellor. Among the first honorary graduates were Jennie Lee, Peter Venables, Lord Campbell of Eskan (Chair of the Milton Keynes Development Corporation), Jane Drew (Open University Architect), Paulo Freire and Michael Young.
Programme begins with a brief history of Alexandra Palace and its link with the OU.... Procession of OU dignitaries and Mace. Presentation of 2nd year graduates and OU honorary doctorates to various people. Interviews with some of the graduates after the ceremony.
