Cultural performances by Indigenous people are often spectacular, dramatic and attractive events. They can also be provocative and edgy, raising questions about relationships between cultures, rela...tionships between traditional rituals and entertainment, the ways in which people relate to land or place, and much more. This short film was made at the Origins Festival of First Nations in London in July 2015. In it, as well as seeing parts of some performances, you’ll meet a few of the Indigenous participants as they talk about their work. All of this interests me as a researcher (e.g. in the Reassembling Democracy: Ritual as Cultural Resource project), as a scholar exploring ways to teach about Indigenous knowledges and activities, and as a person seeking to understand ways of living in this complex and fragile world.
