Description
When the European Community was set up in 1958, the forerunner to today's European Union, Britain declined to join. By 1961, however, the British Government had decided the country's interests woul...d be best served by joining Europe. This video is a talk, by Luc-Andre Brunet, a Lecturer in Twentieth-Century European History at The Open University, who examined the arguments made for and against joining, and considered what brought about this dramatic reversal in Britain's position with regards to Europe.
